Our Mission
Our Mission is to support the most exposed and least served: SMEs operating within NATO’s Seven Baseline Requirements. From energy and defence-adjacent suppliers, to agriculture, health and transport, to tech firms and dual-use companies that began in one sector and have since taken on defence-related work. These are not the largest critical infrastructure operators, but they are of critical importance and are increasingly the ones drawing attention from state and non-state actors alike, often without the budget, or the awareness, to know it.
Most of these organisations already have strong operational cultures. What they lack is a practical route from state and NATO-level doctrine to what it actually means for their business, translated into something affordable and usable; not another framework to shelve.
The stakes are real. McKinsey’s own research shows that companies which built genuine resilience materially outperformed their peers through past periods of crisis and disruption, while most leaders today still say they feel underprepared for what comes next. Threats that lay dormant in the Nordic region for a generation are active again, and while it isn’t always obvious what to do about that, waiting is now the greater risk.
We also support UK organisations navigating the fast-growing defence and security relationship between the UK and Norway, helping them establish and operate safely and sustainably as that cooperation deepens.
Leadership
Much of the resilience advice available to Nordic and UK businesses today comes from people who have studied risk. Ours comes from people who have managed it directly, in the field, under real pressure.
Vidar Resilience is led by our CEO and Founder, who brings over a decade of experience in resilience, crisis management and global security operations across more than a dozen conflict-affected and high-risk environments, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Mali, Myanmar, Nigeria, Syria and Ukraine.
This experience spans crisis leadership, negotiation with armed groups (including ISIS and the Taliban), civil-military coordination (CIMIC/CMCoord), threat analysis and leading information collection activities in the field, gained advising governments, international organisations and commercial operators on continuity and security under sustained pressure.
Our Founder currently holds a senior leadership role in international security and risk advisory firm, holds UK and NATO security clearances, serves as a current Reservist for the UK Ministry of Defence, and brings close personal and professional ties to Norway. This background gives Vidar Resilience a first-hand understanding of operating under real pressure, and of what it takes to keep an organisation alive and thriving when conditions turn against it.
Such grounding is rare among firms advising on geopolitical and hybrid risk, and it shapes how we work: we are less interested in the doctrine for its own sake than in what it actually takes to keep an organisation operating when conditions turn against it.
